Rigid polyurethane foam
Polyurethanes are a group of polymers having the broadest application. Alongside with the industry developement, these materials are gaining more attention and wider range of applications – finding their place in almost all areas of everyday life and all branches of industry.
Rigid polyurethane foam is distinguished by an extremely low coefficient of thermal conductivity, making them a better insulator than other conventional insulation materials. Shows very good mechanical properties and excellent adhesion, which means that the material has a wide range of applications, including:
- thermal insulation on walls, floors, ceilings, roofs, pitched roofs;
- the core of sandwich panels;
- in refrigeration, shipbuilding and automotive industries.
Polyurethane foams can be used both indoors as well as to protect the external structures. Membranes of polyurethane foam is not only excellent insulation in construction, but also a good solution for other industries such as automotive.
Rigid polyurethane foam is an important component of the multi-layer structural elements – so-called sandwich elements with polyurethane insulating core. Such components are used in facades and roofing of buildings, cold storage, warehouses and factory buildings, as well as for the construction of containers and elements of vehicles. Sectional doors or garage doors also have insulating core of polyurethane.
Rigid polyurethane foam is often used to fill voids in building construction and for equipment of cabins in ships and aircraft. The rigid foam, with a wide range of densities can also be used for the production of decorative elements, imitation of wood furniture, housing of various types of equipment, including the automotive industry. It is used in the manufacture of floats, amortization, thermal and acoustic insulation.
